On this day, and everyday, the environment is a top priority at Nique, both as a business and for the creative individuals that make up our team. In recognition of World Environment Day, we wanted to share some of the highlights of reducing our environmental impact this year.
Reducing Our Footprint
In 2023, we closed our warehouse in Melbourne and moved to a new operating system that minimizes our physical footprint. Our store locations now serve as our stockholding for both our retail and online stores. This has allowed us to streamline operations and use fewer resources, such as power and transportation.
After our move we donated 2000 sale items and samples to Thread Together, an organisation who help to clothe people in need in Australia.
Continuing Our Commitment to the Canopy Project
We are committed to working with the Canopy Project to protect the world's forests. We do this by improving our approach to how we buy and use paper, packaging, and fabrics. In April 2023, we introduced new 100% recyclable shopping bags that are made from 50% post-consumer waste products, dyed with water-based inks, and use water-soluble glues to hold the recyclable paper handles in place. You can learn more about our initiatives here.
We believe that circular fashion is the future of the industry. Circular fashion is a system where clothing and personal belongings are produced through a more considered model, where the production of an item and the end of its life are equally as important.
We are committed to circularity in two ways..
Our in-house reNique reNew label takes faulty, pre-loved, and deadstock garments and creates something new with them. We mend, upcycle, overdye, repair, and work with local creatives and designers to breathe new life into what otherwise may be discarded. You can get involved too, learn more here.
RNTR is a company we have partnered with that allows you to rent certain pieces from our collection for up to 30 days. This means you can have the benefits of our collection without cluttering your wardrobe or investing in items you may only need for one night.
We are proud of the progress we have made so far, but we know there is still more to do. We are committed to continuing to reduce our environmental impact and to working towards a more sustainable future.
We hope you will join us on this journey.
